25TH ANNIVERSARY OPENER/CLOSER 2020: Costumes for the opener/closer are in! Dancers may possibly still sign up IF we can still get a costume. There will be an increase in the costume fee for individual shipping. See the desk if you are interested.
Tentative rehearsal dates/times: FRIDAYS 6:00-9:00pm 4/17, 4/24, 5/1, 5/8, 5/15, 5/29
Dress Rehearsal: 6/5 & 6/8
SENIOR NUMBER: All graduating high school seniors are invited to participate in the senior number. Seniors will meet on Thursdays at 8:15pm starting April 9th. If you are interested, please sign up at the desk no later than March 21st. There will be no charge for this class. Dancers are responsible for choreography and costumes which must be approved by Carrie and/or Maria. Dance/costume must be complete by May 22nd in order to perform in recital.
ACCOUNT BALANCES: ABSOLUTELY NO ONE WILL GO ON STAGE AT DRESS REHEARSAL, OR RECITAL WITH A BALANCE ON HIS OR HER ACCOUNT. ALL BALANCES MUST BE PAID IN FULL BY June 1st. Payments after June 1st MUST BE MADE WITH CARRIE OR CONNIE ONLY. Dancers with balances will NOT be allowed on stage at dress rehearsal. Even if they are there in costume and promise that their mom or dad will be back to pay later that evening. If a dancer is scheduled to go on stage and their balance is not paid off by that time, they will not go on stage.
RECITAL PICTURES: Noreen Owens Photography will again be taking our recital photos, and will be taken at dress rehearsal.
PERFORMANCE LOCATION: Rehearsals are Friday, June 5th & Monday, June 8th . Recitals are Tuesday, June 9th, Wednesday, June 10th, and Thursday, June 11th at the Alverson Center for Performing Arts, Fowlerville High School.
DRESS REHEARSAL CONFLICTS: Dress rehearsal will be Friday, June 5th 2pm-11pm & Monday June 8th 12pm-11pm. Dress Rehearsal is MANDATORY. Students not attending dress rehearsal will not be allowed to perform in the recital. We make every possible attempt to work around everyone’s schedule as long as the requests are reasonable. We will be taking dress rehearsal conflicts/requests now through March 26th. After the 26th, we will not be accepting requests. You must write down your name, dancers name, dancer’s dance titles, date request submitted AND THE REASON for the request/conflict. This must be sent to firstname.lastname@example.org. Only requests made to this email will be considered. Requests will be honored in the order they are received. DO NOT request to have all classes on one night. We cannot accommodate all families in this way. After the dress rehearsal schedule is published, it CANNOT be changed.
RECITAL MUSIC: Each instructor will make a copy of the music for all of their recital dances. Each dancer is encouraged to bring in a CD. Please fill out the request form and leave it at the desk. We will try to get it right back to you. You may purchase a copy of the music at a cost of $1.00 per instructor. Copies of music will be available beginning January 15th.
DANCE EXPRESS ANNUAL SPRING RECITAL: Dance Express, Maria’s School of Dance, Competition dance groups are proud to present: “In Da Mood To Dance!” Come and enjoy a great afternoon of award winning dance and entertainment! Tickets are $10.00 in advance and $13.00 at the door. The show will be 2pm, Saturday, April 25, 2020 at the Alverson Center for Performing Arts, Fowlerville High School. Stop by the desk for more details.
CHOREOGRAPHY: Please be aware that all choreography taught at MSD is the property of MSD. With the “Talent Show” season soon approaching, we just want to remind you that students are not allowed to use their recital dances or other choreography taught at the studio without permission from Maria and/or Carrie. We try to always be aware of when and where our dancers are performing.
RECITAL SHOES: It is expected that at this time, all dancers will now be wearing the correct dance shoes required for recital. If you have questions about which shoes are needed, check the costume book or ask the office staff. Our staff will be glad to answer any questions. Please do not wait until just prior to recital to purchase the correct dance shoes. Keep in mind that dancers need time to practice in their shoes to dance comfortably and safely, and that dancer’s feet grow and may not fit in the fall.
SPRING CLASSES: Maria’s School of Dance is offering two 5-week sessions beginning classes which will give students a brief introduction to ballet, tap, jazz/hip hop, and acro. The objective is to give the student an idea of what dance is like. It is designed to be a fun and educational experience. Classes will not participate in recital. SUMMER CLASSES: We will again be holding summer classes. Information will be available shortly and sign up will begin March 1st.
FALL CLASS REQUESTS: If you have a scheduling request for 2020 – 2021 classes, please submit them via email to email@example.com. Only requests submitted by email will be considered.
LOST AND FOUND: Please make sure you check the lost in found located in the main lobby. Staff will donate items to Goodwill at the end of the month.
ALUMNI DANCE: Please spread the word about the MSD Alumni dance! If any MSD alumni is interested in participating in this year’s recital, please email firstname.lastname@example.org. We will be providing video for those too far away to attend rehearsals. We just ask that dancers are present for a rehearsal the weekend before recital and Monday, June 8th Dress Rehearsal
